I know, I know. WordPress 5.9 isn’t even out the door yet (coming to a site near you on January 25, 2022) but I’m already so excited for 6.0 thanks to the foundation 5.8 and 5.9 are bringing to the WordPress world for full site editing features. It’s wild to think about what will be possible with some big pieces out in the open, like the site editor, block themes, the Styles system, various design tools, and more.
Since I’ve only had the Developer Relations job during a pandemic (started in April 2020), I decided to spin up a zoom and invite anyone who wanted to join me/could join me from the outreach program I run to have a fun chat about what’s on our collective minds for the future. I call these casual sessions “hallway hangouts” and, when my introverted self can manage it, I try to run them as much as I can. I’m re-sharing here in case anyone else was out thinking about 6.0 too — know you aren’t alone:
