I went to Glacier National Park finally and for the first time. I’ve traveled to far away places to see glorious mountains and Glacier has long been on my list as a more approachable place to venture to. I went with my very own Montana tour guide (my girlfriend) and snapped the photos you see below mainly for the WordPress.org photo directory where I do my best to upload photos from my adventures for all to use. You can see some of the ones below listed on my profile there — I hope you re-use them! This is just a first pass with many more to come.
It’s been a fun challenge to consider how to take these photos and to do so without it turning into a giant photoshoot. I long to be as present as possible, especially when in nature, yet love the feeling of capturing a moment in time with my little camera. The result is a constant negiotation around how I approach taking photos that might make for a compelling set of patterns. This has led to some of my photos already in use in official WordPress.org patterns (this one might be my favorite).
Even as I take this task seriously, I also don’t regularly charge my camera to add an artificial constraint and remind myself not to spend too much time viewing the world through a lens. I don’t want to miss the true moment.

If you haven’t yet checked out the the Photo Directory, I hope you do and perhaps even contribute your own images.
